MOZART Morphing Computerized mats with Embodied Sensing and Artificial Intelligence

Information

About project

The MOZART project aims to advance the state of the-art in robotic handling of soft and heterogeneous objects, following an innovative approach based on the use of deformable handling surfaces supported by artificial intelligence-based control and learning tools.

Practical demonstrations will take place in the area of food handling: fish de-scaling, chicken sorting and chicken presentation.

The last pillar of the project is an integrative-interdisciplinary approach to the social sciences and humanities that addresses the transition of the role of today’s operators to more skilled jobs in the future. It also addresses the general ethical challenges surrounding food production to ensure sustainable technological development in terms of social, ethical and ecological consequences.

Objectives

Project objectives

Support the green transition of the food industry through the development of soft touch robotics for handling fish and chicken products.

Extend the state of the art of robotic perception, interaction and manipulation and address the modularity and composability of solutions.

Constantly monitor, evaluate and achieve the sustainability (environmental, economic and social) of the project.

Prepare AUTOMAT (Autonomous Manipulation using Morphing Modular Mats) product development using feedback from demonstrations and working towards standardization.

Efficiently disseminate, communicate and exploit project results.

Results

Concrete actions

MOZART addresses the food industry as a context to demonstrate and mature AUTOMAT (Autonomous Manipulation using Morphing Modular Mats) technology.
