E-SHyIPS: Ecosystemic knowledge in Standards for Hydrogen Implementation on Passenger Ships
Information
About project
The European Commission adopted the hydrogen strategy with the idea that in an integrated energy system, hydrogen can foster decarbonization across Europe.
In line with this “philosophy” and considering that there is still no regulatory framework applicable to hydrogen-powered ships, the e-SHyIPS project involves 7 European countries to define new guidelines for an effective introduction of hydrogen in the maritime passenger transport sector.
Combining theoretical research activities with simulations and laboratory experiments, the project aims to outline an appropriate certification process and identify possible future standardization activities towards the goal of a zero-emission shipping scenario.
