Circularity is not acted upon if information and evidence are not available along the entire life-cycle chain.
The main objective of the CircThread project is to unlock access to data that is now presented in isolation and to use these as decision-making information for actors inside and outside the extended product life cycle, with a focus on household appliances.
To this end, CircThread will provide a Circular Digital Thread methodology, a framework to facilitate the exchange of information flows along the life cycle chain of products, components, their materials, chemicals, and related circularity, environmental, social and economic information.

Project objectives
The objective is to create data links between the product chain, value chain, asset chain and life cycle chains, based on a Product Information Catalogue, and to enable the exchange of information through data contracts governed by secure and reliable management standards. In particular, the CircThread project aims to:
Extend the life of products through a better understanding of in-use problems and maintenance needs.
Understand the quality of end-of-life products for the purchase of spare parts and support the right to repair.
Improve evaluation of circularity paths by waste management and recycling companies by providing better data on product composition.
Improving traceability of materials and chemicals in products and components to make them safer and to identify critical raw material cycles.
Improved decision-making by citizens and citizens' organisations through direct access to information on product performance.
Concrete actions
CircThread will bring the benefits of the circular economy closer to reality.
The prospect of household appliances lasting twenty years or more, affordable repairs and longevity, and proper collection and recycling for all appliances. With huge employment and social benefits for the economy and a major reduction in environmental pressures. To make this happen, we are working to implement seven innovations. Together, as a group of manufacturers, collectors, repairers, recyclers, consumer associations, knowledge institutions and innovative companies.
