The bi0SpaCE project aims to support the digital and circular transition of bio-based industries in Europe by providing innovative solutions for the creation of environmentally and socially sustainable bio-based products and services.

The main objective is the development of the bi0S platform, an open-access digital ecosystem integrating advanced technologies, guidance frameworks, and standards to facilitate large-scale adoption of circular economy solutions in bio-based value chains.

Among the key technologies developed, bi0SpaCE will implement Industry 4.0-enhanced Digital Product Passports (DPPs), linked to an International Dataspace (IDS) compliant with circular economy requirements. These tools will enable secure and transparent data exchange on the sustainability performance of bio-based products, increasing trust in green claims and facilitating the monitoring of circularity across the entire value chain.

The project involves a consortium of 9 partners from 5 EU Member States and 2 associated countries and will be implemented over a 36-month period (from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027). The developed solutions will be tested in four key bio-based industry sectors:

  1. Paperboard production.
  2. Eco-industrial parks with bio-based energy and product producers and consumers.
  3. Plant-based products and cosmetics.
  4. Bio-derived industrial chemicals.
